In Canada, universities play a uniquely important role in the country’s overall research effort. For example, did you know that:

    Physical Sciences

    The University of Toronto, home to Nobel Laureate John Polanyi, is a nexus of Canadian research in physical chemistry and other sciences. At the University of British Columbia, researchers are making important advances in the field of superconductors.

    Nanotechnology

    Canadian universities are on the cutting edge of nanotechnology research. Thanks to a recent initiative on the part of the Albertan government, nanotechnology projects in that province are especially booming: the University of Calgary recently announced a new research strategy for nanotechnology, and at the University of Alberta, scholars are pushing the frontiers of the field.
